The “SIBLING”… Our Newest Cookie!

my eldest sister Kim, on her way to Chicago Amnesty International conference

“Well …what do you like about it ?” I asked.

She responded — “I will tell you what I don’t like about it — it has fruit in it, you know I don’t like cooked fruit”.

DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

How could I forget that one thing! My sister — -who I have studied all of my life-

She never -ever ate cooked fruit- in anything! I could kick myself!

Many folks love the ugly cookie — Its chocolate chip cookie goodness is filled with a tone of hardy ingredients.

Kim is not one of those folks….

and that is okay — cause there are a tone of Kim’s out their

Two major distinctions between my eldest sibling and I — -and I mean MAJOR

would be as followed:

Her passion for reading — she is a prolific reader- avid reader; quantities of books. As a matter of fact the only other person I recognized reads at that velocity -absorbing large quantities of information and escape into alternate realities — effortlessly — — and able to sustain at that level of reading-deliberately is professor/novelist/author Roxane Gay (bad feminist).

The second distinction is her dislike for cooked fruit. As a child I would watch her eat — lets say a pastry; it was like watching a doctor perform surgery. She would meticulously extract any remanence of cooked fruit, place it on the very edge of the saucer or plate, there it stayed….for ETERNITY!

My big SIS- is a terrific sibling! Well big sister to Isis, and Star as well. I am sure they will agree…

I dedicate the “SIBLING” a CHOCOLATE CHIP -WALNUT choice .

To all of the terrific siblings out there — older or younger, who march to the beat of a different drum — -

WILL CUT A BATCH — for her sisters at a drop of a hat!

That is my sister Kim…! Thank you Sibling- for being such an amazing big sister — -I know you don’t play, and I had to learn the hard way at times — but I would not trade you and the lessons I learned from you — for the world.

love ya!
